The brilliant music for the story of a hero – one of Beethoven’s most popular overtures – sets the stage for an exciting evening. This opening weekend concert boasts a spellbinding star violinist, 12-year-old Amaryn Olmeda as soloist in the exceptionally popular Bruch Violin Concerto. Audiences will be thrilled by the young musician’s command of her instrument.
Beethoven’s humorous and lighthearted Symphony No. 8 brings the first weekend of orchestra concerts to a celebratory conclusion for the composer’s 250th birthday.

The bucolic Appalachian Spring, played here in the original version for 14 instruments, begins an afternoon of American favorites, including Gershwin’s “Blues from An American in Paris’ featuring Classical Tahoe Principal Clarinet Dan Gilbert.
Nadine Sierra once again graces the Classical Tahoe Pavilion stage, this time with Maestro Revzen at the piano, as they perform American Songbook classics of Gershwin, Porter, and others.

An Incredible rising talent...

Twelve-year-old violin sensation, Amaryn Olmeda, has been dazzling audiences with her bold and expressive performances across California and internationally in Hungary, Slovakia, and the Czech Republic. In 2020, Amaryn was featured as the San Francisco Chamber Orchestra’s Debut Artist at their New Year’s Concert Series in San Francisco, Palo Alto and Berkley, CA. 2019 brought solo performances with the Auburn Symphony at the Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts in Davis, CA, a return invitation to perform with the Music in the Mountains Orchestra for their Summerfest Music Series, and a performance at the McAllister Honors Recital at the Colburn School of Music in Los Angeles. She has also been a featured soloist with the Merced Symphony, Solano Symphony, MIM Youth Orchestra, Sacramento Youth Symphony Academic Orchestra, and with the Sacramento Youth Symphony Premier Orchestra on their 2018 European Performance Tour.
The 2020-2021 concert season brings solo performances with Classical Tahoe Orchestra, the Stockton Symphony (the youngest guest artist to ever appear in the Classics subscription series) and a return invitation with the Solano Symphony. Amaryn has won numerous competitions, including the Auburn Symphony Young Artists Competition, Music in the Mountains Young Musicians Competition, Classical Music Masters at the Harris Center for the Performing Arts, Pacific Musical Society Competition in San Francisco,Sacramento Youth Symphony Academic Orchestra Concerto Competition, the 2017 Sacramento Section and the 2018 California State Solo Competition of the American String Teachers Association, Merced Symphony Young Artist Competition, the Diablo Valley and Holy Names College Competition, the Solano Symphony Young Artist Competition, and the Bach Award at the United States International Music Competition at Stanford University. Amaryn enjoys bringing music to her community with school tour performances with the Sacramento Youth Symphony, Auburn Symphony, and the Oakland Symphony, where she has performed as a soloist for hundreds of her peers in Northern California. She has also performed at the Davis Community Church Weekly Luncheons for the Homeless, The Children for Children Showcase Concert to benefit Child Advocates of Nevada County, Keaton Raphael Child Cancer Organization, as a soloist with the Sacramento Chamber Music Workshop nursing home tours, and at the End of Watch Benefit Concert, honoring fallen police officers of Sacramento. In addition to being a soloist with orchestras, Amaryn loves playing chamber music, composing, attending ballet and art classes, collecting American Girl Dolls, and gardening on her family’s hobby farm in Northern California.
Amaryn is a student of Simon James at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and studies music theory with Hiro David in New York.
