The Brubeck Brothers Quartet brings the cool, fun, and contagious joy of jazz to Tahoe on August 12 in an event that promises to be superb, soulful, and delicious. Join Classical Tahoe for this special concert with a luxe champagne reception to follow with the artist.
The Boston Globe wrote “The Brubeck Brothers Quartet brings a new spirit to straight-ahead jazz.” Dan Brubeck’s jaw-dropping solos on Take Five have brought audiences all over the world to their feet. Chris Brubeck is a multi-talented and affable frontman and his versatility as a much-in-demand composer, arranger, and performer on bass and trombone makes him a unique talent in the music world. Honorary “brothers” Mike DeMicco’s technical prowess on the guitar always impresses, and Chuck Lamb is a superb and soulful pianist with an endlessly creative musical imagination.
They have performed at concert series, colleges, and jazz festivals across North America and Europe including the Newport, Detroit, Ravinia, Las Vegas, Sedona, Spokane & Monterey Jazz Festivals, and they were chosen to kick off one New Year with an hour long, coast-to-coast live broadcast on “Toast of the Nation” on National Public Radio. All About Jazz raved “Once again the Brubeck Brothers Quartet attains that rarefied level where music is both relaxed and expressive, and their joy in its creation is contagious. There’s really nothing out there that comes close to their unique brand of inventiveness.”
Although the quartet’s style is rooted in “straight-ahead” jazz, their concerts reveal an inherent ability to explore and play unusual rhythms while integrating the influences of funk, blues and world music. The group’s creativity can be heard in their uncompromising music, which reflects their dedication to melody, rhythm, improvisation, musical culture and the spontaneous spirit of jazz.
A chance to hear the individual artistry of our Classical Tahoe musicians in an intimate setting, with fascinating music, narration and great acoustics. Plan to join us after the concert to meet and exchange ideas with the concert’s musicians. Music and conversation, beautiful and personal.
Classical Tahoe concerts take place in the Classical Tahoe Pavilion on the campus of Sierra Nevada College, Incline Village, Nevada.
