Classical Tahoe Announces 2017 Festival
Renowned musicians from top orchestras assemble in Lake Tahoe for Classical Tahoe’s sixth season, July 28 – Aug. 12, 2017
LAKE TAHOE, Nev. (March 2, 2017)—The nationally celebrated classical music festival, Classical Tahoe, is set to amaze audiences for its 6th season, July 28 through Aug. 12, 2017. Featuring acclaimed guest soloists and performances made only more striking by the accompanying scenery of Lake Tahoe, the festival brings together nationally and internationally recognized musicians for three weeks of concert performances in Incline Village, Nevada. Under the direction of Conductor and Artistic Director Joel Revzen, the 10-concert series supports Tahoe’s cultural growth while bringing together a remarkable assembly of musicians from the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, San Francisco Symphony, Seattle Symphony, Los Angeles Philharmonic and other orchestras throughout the world.
“This year Classical Tahoe opens the festival with a concert of American classics,” Maestro Joel Revzen said. “We’ve sought out and invited soloists whose music-making is as radiant as the beauty of Lake Tahoe and the talent of our orchestra. The 2017 concert repertoire brings audiences a wide range of musical styles – from Beethoven to Bernstein and beyond – with something to entice and excite every listener.”
Guest soloists are traveling to Lake Tahoe from all over the globe; Cuban pianist Aldo López-Gavilán ignites Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue,” Israeli violinist Itamar Zorman performs Jonathan Leshnoff’s “Violin Concerto,” and four award-winning soloists from the San Francisco Opera’s prestigious Adler Fellowship Program bring to life scenes from Mozart/Da Ponte operas. Lauded for their fresh, dynamic performances of standard repertoire, the Classical Tahoe Orchestra brings their unique approach to the beloved music of Dvořák, Brahms, Bernstein, Gershwin, Copland, Tchaikovsky, Mendelssohn and more.
