Daniela Candillari, conductor
Conductor and composer Daniela Candillari is praised for her dynamic and compelling performances throughout North America and Europe. In 2022-23, Candillari enters her second season as both Principal Conductor at Opera Theatre of Saint Louis and Principal Opera Conductor at Music Academy, and makes her debut at Carnegie Hall and debut with the New York Philharmonic conducting cellist Yo-Yo Ma. Recognized for her “confidence and apparently inexhaustible verve” (New York Times), Candillari made her Metropolitan Opera debut in 2021 and continues to appear at renowned opera halls around the world. Candillari grew up in Serbia and Slovenia, is fluent in several languages, and was the first Slovenian musician to win a Fulbright Scholarship and TED Fellowship.

Tessa Lark, violin
Grammy-nominated violinist Tessa Lark is one of the most captivating artistic voices of our time, consistently praised by critics and audiences for her astounding range of sounds, technical agility, and musical elegance. A budding superstar in the classical realm, she is also a highly acclaimed fiddler in the tradition of her native Kentucky, delighting audiences with Appalachian and bluegrass music and inspiring composers to write for her. Recent honors include a Lincoln Center Emerging Artist Award and an Avery Fisher Career Grant. Tessa has been a featured soloist at numerous U.S. orchestras, recital venues, and festivals since making her concerto debut at age sixteen. Along with a violin-bass duo with fiancé, Michael Thurber, new projects include a string trio with composer-bassist Edgar Meyer and cellist Joshua Roman, and her newest recording, The Stradgrass Sessions, released in 2022. Tessa is Artistic Director of Musical Masterworks, co-host of NPR’s From The Top, and a board member of the Irving M. Klein International Strings Competition.
