High School Jazz Workshop with Jazzmeia Horn
In August 2019, young local jazz musicians will have the chance to receive special instruction on the art of jazz performance from Grammy-nominated jazz vocalist Jazzmeia Horn, winner of the 2015 Thelonius Monk International Vocal Jazz Competition and 2013 Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition. Jazzmeia is a teaching artist in The NJPAC Wells Fargo for Teens Program and In The Schools Program in Newark, New Jersey.
Classical Tahoe will feature Jazzmeia Horn in performance with her ensemble on August 11.
Featured participants will be the Incline High School Jazz Band led by Todd Holway and the Truckee High School Jazz Band led by Jesse Steele, whose musicians will have band performances, work with Horn in a workshop, and give an informal concert for parents and teachers in the concert Pavilion.
We thank the M.E.G Memorial Fund for Creative Arts grant for the ability to provide this service to area musicians.
