Join Conductor Jane Brown and musicians from the Reno Pops Orchestra in concert. Songs are from Hollywood film scores.  The whole community is invited! Arrangements of favorite musical works are available for players and singers of all levels.

Music will be available  to pick up starting July 5 at the Classical Tahoe Office.

Jane Brown serves as the conductor and musical director of the Reno Pops Orchestra, where she had a profound effect on building every aspect of that ensemble and its audiences into a regional phenomenon.

Jane Brown serves as the conductor and musical director of the Reno Pops Orchestra, where she had a profound effect on building every aspect of that ensemble and its audiences into a regional phenomenon.

Ms. Brown is a passionate and energetic conductor who inspires musicians to achieve their highest potential. She is known for her team-building leadership style, her enthusiastic work ethic, and her passion for audience-friendly, thematic, multimedia programming. During her tenure as conductor of the Reno Pops Orchestra and in her work with many other ensembles, she has played a key role in developing several innovative education and outreach programs which have brought musical exposure to orchestral music and inspiration to thousands of young people and adults in Northeastern California and Northern Nevada.

Her most recent pursuits include studying conducting with such internationally renowned masters as: Gustav Meier, Mark Gibson, Markand Thakar, Diane Wittry, Joseph Gifford, and most recently, Jonathan Brett and Guerassim Voronkov. In recent years she has guest conducted the State Symphony Concert Orchestra of Ukraine, the Maikop Philharmonia, the Bryansk Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Arkhangelsk State Chamber String Orchestra; as well as one of the state orchestras in St. Petersburg, Russia. In February of 2014 she was named as a Conducting Fellow with the Allentown Symphony Orchestra with Diane Wittry.

Donna Axton

Donna Axton is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. She had her own private practice for several years, and held internships at Tahoe Safe Alliance, Truckee Group, Individual and Family Therapy Services, Glenshire Elementary School in Truckee, and St. Nicholas Community Services in Tahoe City during her training. At Sierra Nevada College she teaches the counseling-related psychology courses: Counseling and Clinical Psychology, Art and Music Therapy, Clinical Methodologies, Health Psychology, Abnormal Psychology, and Human Development.

Axton spent 14 years touring the world as a pianist in Hoyt Axton’s band. She played country western, boogie-woogie, gospel, and rock and roll on 21 albums, co-produced two, and appeared on dozens of television shows, including the Tonight Show. She has much writing, arranging and directing credits to her name and has directed, conducted and/or played for scores of local musical productions at all levels from community to professional. She is also known as a chamber music and solo pianist
