Season One of PBS Reno Series Classical Tahoe
Selected for Distribution by American Public Television
PBS Reno is proud to announce that Season One of its Classical Tahoe series has been picked up for national distribution by American Public Television (APT).
PBS Reno submitted Season One of Classical Tahoe for distribution consideration by APT and last week, the station learned the series was selected for distribution to 300+ PBS member stations beginning in May 2022.
The Classical Tahoe series features world-renowned musicians who perform orchestral music near Lake Tahoe in the summertime. The PBS Reno series premiered in 2021 and consisted of six episodes featuring a variety of performances captured in July and August, 2020. During that time, PBS Reno not only recorded six concerts, but also simultaneously provided an internet live stream utilizing eight cameras to capture a variety of angles of the musicians, the instruments, and the audience. Season One included a world premiere of a new arrangement of a Debussy piece, along with music arranged by well-known composers including Mozart, Schubert, Fauré, Mahler and Bruch.

PBS Reno to Broadcast New Local Series: CLASSICAL TAHOE
The weekly six-part series, which captures beautiful music in an equally-beautiful setting of Lake Tahoe, will begin New Year’s Day
PBS Reno is thrilled to bring its viewers Classical Tahoe featuring world-renowned musicians who worked together to safely bring music to the shores of Lake Tahoe during the pandemic.
The Classical Tahoe Chamber Music Series traditionally takes place at the Classical Tahoe Pavilion on the campus of Sierra Nevada University in Incline Village, Nevada, in July and August each year. Due to the pandemic and resulting restrictions on large gatherings, organizers pivoted to ensure people could safely experience the magic of live music. PBS Reno recorded six concerts from the 2020 Classical Tahoe Chamber Music Series and provided an internet livestream enjoyed by tens of thousands of people.
“PBS Reno is so pleased to have this partnership with Classical Tahoe,” said Kurt Mische, PBS Reno President and CEO. “Being able to share these wonderful concerts with people all throughout our service area is a treat for our viewers and reminds us all of the world-class music and art created right in our own backyard.”
