Named for Kurt Herbert Adler, San Francisco Opera’s legendary former general director, the Adler Fellowship Program is a multi-year performance-oriented residency for opera’s most promising young artists. Originally founded in 1977 as the San Francisco Affiliate Artists Opera Program, the Adler Fellowship is one of the world’s most prestigious programs for advanced training. The program offers intensive individual coaching, professional seminars and a wide range of performance opportunities to young singers and pianists. Adler Fellows, selected from artists participating in the Merola Opera Program, also gain valuable experience by performing supporting roles in San Francisco Opera’s mainstage productions.

In a concert devoted to the glory of the human voice, we experience the drama of human relationships. Beginning with songs of love – fresh, world-weary, full of joy or broken hearts – we then take a glimpse inside the operas with semi-staged scenes from Mozart’s work with his favorite librettist (and famous seducer) Lorenzo Da Ponte. This concert is filled with the complications and surprising situations that only love and opera can bring about, as these giants of creativity bring us some lessons in Amore.

Ron and Maureen Ashley dedicate this performance to their parents Anna and Grant Williams and Paul and Martha Ashley.

The Adler Fellows appearance is made possible, in part, by Wally and Estel Binder.
