classical tahoe’s student usher program

12 concerts

A unique opportunity for Tahoe-area high school young musicians and music lovers to take part in the Classical Tahoe concert series as a youth ambassador in our new Student Usher Program, sponsored by The Cymbal Foundation and the Classical Tahoe Music Institute.

As Classical Tahoe young ambassadors, student ushers will be selected for one of the three weeks of the concert series.   Student Ushers will be trained in the important responsibilities of greeting concert guests, answering questions, and directing patrons to their seats in the Pavilion.   In addition, during their designated week, student ushers will have rare “behind the scenes” access to the Classical Tahoe Pavilion, concerts and festival activities.

Students will be encouraged to attend rehearsals, meet and mingle with Classical Tahoe’s exceptional musicians, socialize with their student usher peers, and learn the behind the scenes workings of a non-profit arts festival from our talented Classical Tahoe Administration team.   The Classical Tahoe Student Usher Program is a great summer internship work experience opportunity for young musicians and students interested in music administration or event management.

So when you next attend a Classical Tahoe concert, stop a moment to observe your usher; they just may be the next Joshua Bell!

"Inside Look" Open Rehearsal & Lunch Discussion

Have you ever wanted to know more about a piece of music in the Classical Tahoe season? Or what the life of a Guest Artist is like? Or how the busy professional orchestra musicians balance work and life?  Join us for an Inside Look!

These questions – and any others you may have – can be explored in an informal setting on Thursdays on the campus of the Classical Tahoe Pavilion during the 2018 season. Open to the Tahoe public, attendees are invited to listen to a portion of the Thursday morning orchestra rehearsals, bring their own bag lunch, and enjoy an hour of conversation after the rehearsal. Occurring each Thursday of the concert series (July 26, August 2, and August 8) these drop-in events are hosted by Cindy Rhys (program annotator) and include special guests such as Maestro Revzen, Orchestra Librarian Robert Willoughby-Jones, Production manager Stephanie McMullin, and selected orchestra members.  Come join in the exploration! We look forward to seeing you.

Classical Tahoe gratefully acknowledges the generous challenge grant of the Firefly Scientists’ Foundation, assisting Classical Tahoe in fulfilling its mission to inspire active participation in the arts and foster community engagement and enrichment through a multi-generational Music Institute.  This challenge grant and the generosity of donors enables Classical Tahoe to present classes, concerts and outreach events specifically tailored to encourage music engagement of all ages and at all abilities.

For more information on how to participate through your donation, please see Firefly Scientists’ Foundation Challenge Grant.
