Tax-wise Ways to Give
There are many tax-wise ways to support Classical Tahoe performances and programs. As you consider a gift, please review the tax-saving options below.
Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD)
If you are 70½ years old or older, you can take advantage of a simple way to benefit Classical Tahoe and receive tax benefits in return. You can give up to $100,000 per year directly from your IRA to a qualified charity such as ours, without having to pay federal income tax on the withdrawal. If you are married and your spouse also qualifies, each of you can give up to $100,000 for a total of up to $200,000 per year. This popular gift option is commonly called an IRA charitable rollover, but it is also referred to as a qualified charitable distribution or QCD.
In addition, if you are 73 years old or older, and you make a gift directly from your IRA, the amount of your gift could count toward your IRA Required Minimum Distribution or RMD.
Gifts of Appreciated Assets
Gifts of appreciated stocks, bonds, and mutual funds can be one of the most beneficial, tax-wise ways to give because you may save twice. If you itemize, you receive a tax deduction and you also avoid capital gains.
Charitable Lead Trust & Charitable Remainder Trust
Charitable lead trusts and charitable remainder trusts are attractive estate planning options that can benefit Classical Tahoe and your loved ones. For more information on these options, please seek the advice of your estate planner.
Planned Gift
One of the most meaningful ways to support Classical Tahoe, and ensure a musical future for the Tahoe Basin community, is through a planned gift. Planned gifts, also known as legacy gifts, provide robust, transformational support that will help sustain Classical Tahoe long into the future. Making a planned gift also helps you achieve your philanthropic, estate-planning and financial goals. There are also tax advantages that could benefit you and your loved ones today and in the future.
