Carol Franc Buck
Distinguished Honorary Chair, Classical Tahoe Gala 2026

Carol Franc Buck was instrumental in the development of Classical Tahoe as a major donor and personal friend and advisor to Joel Revzen, Classical Tahoe’s founding artistic director. She was a deeply involved and beloved member of the community who raised her son, Christian Erdman, in the Crystal Bay area of north Lake Tahoe.

Carol was born in San Francisco and raised in Vacaville, California. She graduated from Stanford University in 1958. During her time at Stanford, Carol spent a year studying abroad in Florence, Italy, where she developed a love for skiing. 

She also had a love for music, particularly opera, which began at a young age when she would accompany her mother to the San Francisco Opera. Over the years her passion for the arts grew, which led her to serve for many years on the boards of various arts organizations including the San Francisco Opera Association, the San Francisco Symphony, and the Nevada Museum of Art, to name a few. 

In 1979, she created the Carol Franc Buck Foundation to support visual and performing arts organizations. Today the Carol Franc Buck Foundation is one of Classical Tahoe’s most generous supporters. Foundation Trustees include Carol’s son Christian Erdman and her granddaughter, Mckenzie Erdman. 

Carol was an Emeritus Trustee of the University of Nevada, Reno Foundation, where she was nominated to receive the 2022 Distinguished Nevadan award.

Carol is missed by the many people whose lives were touched by her kindness and generosity. Classical Tahoe will honor her legacy at its 2026 Annual Gala, A Star-Spangled Soiree.
